History:

Morris Register Netherlands celebrates it's 32 year anniversary this year. We are a cosy club of pre-war Morris car owners. In the Netherlands there are roughly 150 of these Morris cars. Of these people almost 100 carowners are members of the Morris Register Netherlands club.

INTRODUCTION

Morris vehicles are mainly made in England from 1913 till 1980. The Morris Register Netherlands only focusses on owners and enthousiastic lovers of the Morrismodels made till 1940, with the exeption of 1 type -the Morris Eight type E- which the production lasted till tot 1950.

Our oldtimers also show an impressive view on the early history of cars in the Netherlands. William Richard Morris (1877 – 1963) was the inventor of the idea that mobility should be accesable for everybody. Since the ninteen-twenties the Morris carfactories made cars for an affordable price with as goal to give the "poor man" the same transport possibilities as the "wealthy man" those days. The cars are known by their somplicity yet sustainable design. A durable concept since there are atill quite some cars around. The Morris-brand disappeared at the end of the eighties, but the enthousiasm of a Morrisowner always calls for joyfull reactions amoung other carowners.

THE  CLUB

In the fifties the pre-war car slowely disappeared from the streetviews. This was the motive behind the forming of an club with as goal to keep the the Morris in the streetviews and -if possible- have it return. This started in Engeland with the foundation of the Morris-Eight Tourer Club. Soon after that other types of Morris' joined this foundations and this originated the Morris Register.

In 1978 came through about 15 members active at the Morris Register England came from the Netherlands. They decided to form their own Dutch club with the same goals as the original "Motherclub". The connection with the English clubmembers are still in tact, about three quarters of the Dutch carowners are member of both clubs.
